Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Nicky and travelling has always been a passion of mine which I decided to turn into a career. The last three years have been a challenging time for me and my family. Following two failed rounds of IVF, my husband and I decided to try a third attempt at having a family that we both desperately wanted. Our first appointment on that final journey did not go according to plan and after many appointments, a biopsy and a MRI scan I was diagnosed with Endometrial Cancer. Our world fell apart and we did not know what was lying ahead for us. Within 6 weeks I was booked in for a radical hysterectomy. The recovery went very well but brought me into early menopause and I was soon completing a round of radiotherapy. I have so much gratitude for the NHS and would like to thank everyone involved in my treatment, without their quick action, things could have turned out very differently. Fast forward some months, we were given the wonderful news that I am in recovery and require no further treatment other than 5 years of follow up appointments every 4 months.

During this difficult time, I continued to work as much as possible. Unfortunately, the company I am working for was also going through a challenging time and resulted in the company closing. As Head of HR, this caused lots of pressure for me as I had to formally make a workforce of more than 250 people redundant, including myself. The hard work in the following months were not always easy but I got through it (with the help of my fantastic colleagues) and learned many lessons from which I grew as a person.

As you can imagine, this period of my life made me question everything I was doing and wanted to do in the future. I always had a passion for travel and organising fantastic trips for my husband and our families, and it came to me that I should pursue my passion. Put my energy and commitment into developing a business for myself focussed on travel. So now, my goals are to travel more, share my passions and take the opportunity to help others build the holidays of their dreams.

The travel industry has changed so much in recent years and I want to put the personal touch back into the industry and help people organise trips they never imagine possible within their budgets. We all live very busy lives and often don't get the chance to research and build the trips of our dreams. This is how Dreamy Destinations with Nicky comes to life.
